Recent headlines announced that the best food in Boston is in Cambridge. All I will say is that my favorite food purveyors are, in fact, across the river Charles from the Hub.
In the course of my 24-hour visit, I squeezed in quite a few places starting with Area4: a phenomenal pizzeria and more in the Kendall Square neighborhood of Cambridge. The pizza crust is out of this world. In their own words, “12-year-old starter + flour + water + salt. No oil or sugar. Ever. Over 30 hours of fermentation. Handcrafted cheese. 1 wood-fire oven.” The results are incredible.

For dessert, a short walk up Main Street to Toscanini’s, the best ice cream in Boston and, with the possible exception of Berthillon in Paris, perhaps anywhere on earth. Then a quick drive to Hi Rise Bread Company and Sofra to pick up some provisions (it is hard work to cover so much ground in so little time)! The Bermuda Triangle is my name for the neighborhood that includes these two establishments and the original Formaggio Kitchen – enter at your own risk.

Then on to newcomer Cafe Artscience: I thought I should stay current! A great bar and excellent food, it is a welcome addition to the Cambridge fine dining scene.

How better to finish this edition of Foodie Friday than with a great dessert! Bon Appétit! More on my whirlwind trip: 24 Hours | Boston.
That dessert looks insane!

Yum, I’m not going to Boston anytime soon, but I’ll certainly keep this post for the future. I hate to miss out on a good food adventure!
