Gourmet magazine was my introduction to the world of food and travel for food. Sadly, it is no longer in print. However, I like to think its spirit lives on in many people, including me. When I am in the planning phases of a trip, my first concern is where I want to eat. All other decisions emanate from there.

While we did visit a few temples of Nordic cuisine in Copenhagen, our favorite meal was at the Royal Smushi Cafe. My mouth is watering must thinking of the divine pastries (of particular note is the world famous hindaersnitte). If you have the occasion to visit Denmark, you won’t regret any effort involved in getting to the Royal Smushi Cafe. Before or after enjoying their delectable treats (and if you are lucky with the weather, their garden is a lovely spot), you can browse the porcelain for which Royal Copenhagen is famous in the adjoining store.
